Much has been written in the Indian press about the success or otherwise
of India in the recent WTO meeting at Doha. The interests of patentmatics.com
being primarily restricted to TRIPS related issues, click
here to view the final report of WTO on this matter, given separately.
Only time will prove how far India and the developing countries have succeeded
in their efforts to tackle the provisions of TRIPS to their concrete requirements.
All the same it cannot be ignored that the valiant efforts put up by India
and others have enabled them to overcome the dangers of the "green room"
strategy to a remarkable extent - not to forget the she fell victim to
the same earlier even perhaps without a public whimper. This is also now
the time for India to convert this achievement into concrete clauses in
her Patent Act Amendment Bill currently before the parliament. |
