Dr N.R.Madhava Menon,Vice Chancellor,West Bengal National University of Jurisdical Sciences, has called upon the need of Indian lawyers for "complete understanding of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) Regime under the WTO, which is the key to wealth in to-day's knowledge-driven society ". Urging lawers to take a special interest in patent laws, he said that a grounding in scientific and technological knowledge is a must for lawyers. It is essential that under the New IPR Regime, the legal profession must attract scientists and engineers in a big way without which India will suffer from want of trained and well-equipped patent attorneys .
