With the decks cleared for India joining the Budapest Treaty on the deposition of micro-organisms, the facilities in institutions such as Institute of Microbial Technology , Chandigarh , under the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research, will be upgraded to meet the required standards. By joining the Treaty, India will get the benefit of retaining patentable micro-organisms in a recognized depository within the country.
