| Thanks to the onset of
the New IPR Regime already for Trade Marks, the TM Wars have set in on
a larger scale in India as well.The latest one is between Pfizer for its
erectile disfunction drug Viagra and the pedigrees such as Penegra , Silagra
, Alsigra,Edegra,Kamagra, Progra and so on, reportedly about 10-odd versions
with a number of them having the ‘gra’ suffix, promoted by the Indian companies
such as Zydus Cadilla and Cipla. It is estimated that out of the Rs 25
crores market, Penegra contributes about Rs 2 crores.Similarly Ranbaxy
has sued Wilmark Pharmaceuticals for marketing an analgesic as Fortwell
having similarity with its product Fortwin.
