More sops on anvil for domestic drug R&D.



           The government is reported proposing to exempt the manufacturers of new drugs developed through indigenous R&D from price control for 15 years, according to sources from Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals.The new drug pricing policy may also offer many other sops in this direction to encourage new molecules development.Prime Minister has simultaneously appointed a committee headed Dr Murali Manohar Joshi to look into the relevant aspects in knowledge-based industries including biotechnology  as well.Apart from setting up a dedicated fund initially of Rs 200 crores as a corpus, the Centre has been embarking upon a policy of 100% foreign investment in pharma research.
